After doing his schooling in Kerala, Ajoy kumar did his M.A.Concept Art for Game and Animation in the United Kingdom. He also obtained his B.A. degree in Digital Character Animation from Tesside University, Middlesbrough as also an HNC in Animation from Scotland. He further did a short course in Film Production in The Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, a course in Macromedia Flash from Dubai and completed the DHMS from Padiyar Memorial Homeo College.
His first cartoon was published in ‘Chandrika’ and ‘Madhyamam’, which, later grew into a number of Solo and Group Painting Exhibitions held in Kerala , AbuDhabi , UAE and the U.K. The spree of prizes in cartooning/caricaturing began in 1983-90 during his School / college days. In 1992, he received First Prize in the State Caricature Contest conducted by the Kerala Cartoon Academy.
Nationwide attention was bestowed on Ajoy with the second prize at the Hindustan Times Annual Cartoon Contest, 1992 for the sterling caricature of the crestfallen Sanjay Dutt, Hindi Film Star who was hit by a barrage of seditious charges of abetment to terrorism. This was followed by a 3rd prize in 1993. His caricatures were published in 2003 & 2004 catalogues of the Zemun Caricature Contest. On the animation side, he received 2nd Prize for the short film project competed during course in 2003.
Presently, he lives in Middlesbrough , UK with wife Tina.
