Karthikeyan Pillai who draws under the nom-de-plume of ‘KARTHIKA KATTANAM’ was born on 5th May 1961, at Kattanam near Alapuzha as the son of Bhaskara Kurup and SarojiniAmma. He is married to Chandravally. He has two children, a son named Saroop and a daughter named Kathu.
He has a post graduate diploma in Fine Arts. He runs a cartoon column in mollywoodfox.com (online weekly) and box cartoons in Malayalam publications. Earlier in 1997, Karthika had secured First Prize in a state cartoon contest conducted by KSTA . His other interests include writing satire, Rhymns and folk songs, Origamy and Magic. Being a high school drawing teacher , Karthika has been of immense help in mobilising and inspiring kids during School Cartoon Workshops conducted by the Kerala Cartoon Academy inwhich he is an executive committee member.
