Balachandran who draws under the nom-de-plume of‘ BALU’ was born on 10th January 1953, at Parakode Adoor,Pathanamthitta as the son of late N.R Kamath and K.S Rajammal.He is married to Reethamma . He has two children, Riba Priya who is a Engineer in Infosys and Ribin a student in Germany.He holds a B.A Degree in Political Science, and a Diploma in PR and Advertising,Journalism and Mass Communication.He joined Indian Bank in 1975 and in 2001 took an early retirement.His first cartoon appeared "Cinerama cine magazine" in 1969. Since then he has contributed a number of cartoons and comic strips to various publications. He works as a freelance cartoonist and journalist.
He lives at 34/1066 B, Radhapuram, Santhi Marg, Chandrathil Road, Edappally, Kochi-682024 Contact Mobile : 94473 28095.

Great Works, Bala sir
This happened to be the first official function I attended as Secretary, KCA. A great & solemn beginning to have a Mother to get her son's creations released to the world! I am inspired by Balu's devotion.
The cartoons take me to the early 80's when in every cartoon camp, the spirited Balu coaxed us juniors with lots of inspiration :)
